Head washing. Whichever of the following methods you use, wetting your hair first is still an important step. Wavy curls look better on clean hair.

  • Wash with shampoo to ensure clean hair.
  • When using conditioner, do not apply it to your scalp, but only focus on the ends of your hair. This way the conditioner will not weigh your hair down.
Dry and brush your hair. Remove excess water by wringing your hair or using a towel so that your hair is still slightly damp. This will make your hair curl longer.

  • If you have thick hair, use a hair dryer to dry it out. Hair should be damp, but not soggy.
  • Detangling your hair will help you create smooth wavy curls, without the knots that make your hair lose its beauty.
Apply dry conditioner. Dry conditioner makes hair smoother, stronger and more elastic. Start with a small amount of about 1 teaspoon of dry conditioner applied to your hair. Too much conditioner will make your hair heavy.

  • Apply conditioner to each section of hair to ensure that the conditioner covers evenly from the roots to the ends.
  • Don’t use dry or regular conditioner if your hair is fine.
  • You can apply more conditioner if needed. [1] X Research Source
Consider using products that hold curls. If your hair is too straight to hold curls, you can use a small amount of hairspray or hairspray to help keep the curls longer.

  • It is best to spray on the bottom of the hair so that the top of the head is not greasy or heavy.
  • Lean forward to prevent your hair from turning upside down, and use your fingers to apply a small amount of gel to your hair.

Braid your hair for wavy hair

Divide your hair into sections. Your hair should be damp when you braid it. Braid size will determine more or less curly hair. The bigger the braid, the less frizzy the hair is.

  • If you want smooth curly hair, you have to divide your hair into small sections to braid.
  • If you want wavy hair, simply divide your hair into 4 or 5 sections.

Braid each section of hair. Take a section of hair and divide it into three equal sections. The left hand holds the left hair, the right hand holds the right hair, the two fingers of the dominant hand hold the hair in the middle. Cross your hair over the middle section. [2] X Research Source

  • First, cross the right section of hair over the middle section. Now the right section of hair is in the middle.
  • Next, cross the left side of the hair over the middle section. Now the left side of the hair is in the middle.
  • Repeat this until the entire section of hair is braided.
Fix the braid. When braiding to the end, use an elastic band or butterfly clip to secure the braid. You need to tie it tightly so that the braid does not come out when you sleep or when blow-drying.
Braid the rest of the hair. Repeat the above steps for each section of hair. Remember that only braided sections of hair will curl.

  • It is advisable to start at the top of the head to ensure that the hair does not start to curl in the middle.
  • Braid your hair as close to the end as possible to make sure it doesn’t get straight when you release the braid.
Blow-dry the hair. To keep the curls in place, you must dry them completely before releasing the braids.

  • Use a hair dryer to dry the braids.
  • Leave the braids to bed and take them off in the morning.
Remove the braids. Carefully release each braid for wavy curls. Gently thread your fingers through the hair to separate the strands. Do not brush your hair, as you may end up frizzing your hair or ruining your curling work.
Use hairspray. If your hair is prone to straightening, you can spray a thin layer of hairspray to keep it in place. Choose a soft spray so your hair doesn’t get brittle or sticky.

Roll each small curl to curl your hair

Divide damp hair into sections. The more sections you divide, the more wavy curls you will have. A good idea is to divide sections of hair into two layers, the first layer around the top of the head, the second layer below.

  • If you want to split the part after curling your hair, you must fix the part before dividing your hair into sections.
  • Initially, you should divide your hair into 10-12 sections. After experimenting, you can divide into more or less sections depending on the length and texture of your hair.

Select a section of hair and twist it. You will twist each little curl. Start with the hair close to your face so you can see clearly as you work. Continue doing the back hair.

  • Start with a strand of hair near the top of your head. If you start at the bottom, the top hair may not go your way.
Twist the curls tightly. Twist in one direction to form a tight curl. When pulling the hair out, it should look like rope.

  • Tightly twisted hair will form stronger curls.
  • Remember not to pull your hair too tight, as it can break and give you a headache.

Create curls. Wrap the curls at the roots so that the curls look like waffles or conch shells.
Fixed curls. Large or small curls depend on the length of the hair and can decide how to fix the hair. You may have to use an elastic band around a large strand of hair.

  • Use bobby pins to secure small curls. Use 2 perpendicular clamps to hold the scale.
  • Use duckbills instead of bobby pins to hold curls.

Keep curls. The curls must be completely dry before removing the curls. Going to bed with wet hair is often the best way to do this. Light blow-drying can also help, but the heat can’t get inside the curls.
Remove the curls. When your hair is completely dry, carefully remove each strand. Run your fingers through the hair to create wavy curls, but do not use a comb to comb.

  • Use hairspray or hair gel to keep curls in place all day.

Completed.

Use fabric bands to curl your hair

Cut the fabric into long strips. To get a curling tape, you need small pieces of fabric, about 10 -12 cm long and about 2.5 cm wide. The number of bandages depends on whether you want your hair to be curly or not.

  • Initially you should use 12 bandages, 6 for the top layer and 6 for the bottom layer. [3] X Research Sources
  • Cutting old pillowcases or old shirts is an economical way to get fabric.
Separate a section of hair. You will have 6 curls around the top of your head and 6 curls slightly below. So you will have two sections of hair on each side of the head and two sections of hair at the back of the first layer of hair.

  • Pull a small handful of hair away from your face. If you divide the hair of one side of the head into 4 parts, this part takes up ¼.

Curl a section of hair. Place the bandage on the ends of your hair and start curling. It will be a bit difficult at first and the ends of the hair will want to come out. Tuck your hair back and roll it up.

  • It’s easier to look in the mirror if you’re just doing it for the first time.
Tie cloth tape. Tie the two ends of the bandage to secure the curls. You need to tie it tight enough so that the curls don’t fall out while you sleep, but not too tight so that it’s easy to untie the next day.
Keep curls. Let your hair dry overnight by going to bed with damp curls tied with a cloth. The next morning remove the bands so that the curls are released.

  • Run your fingers through your hair to turn small circles into wavy curls. Do not use a comb to keep your hair from getting frizzy.
  • Use hairspray to keep it in place if your hair is prone to straightening.

Try using a hair roller. If you find it difficult to use a bandage, buy a hair roller. The steps to curl your hair are the same as using a cloth tape, only instead of tying the two ends of the cloth, you put the hair roller back.

    • Some people find it uncomfortable or difficult to sleep with hair rollers.
    • Remember that the size of the roller will determine the curls of the curls. Large batches will give wavy curls.
  • Advice

    • To make your hair look more bouncy, let your hair hang down and massage your hair instead of using a cream or gel.
    • When drying your hair, make sure that the dryer is not too close to your hair, or it may burn your hair.
    • For extra shine, apply a little serum before braiding, twisting, or curling, and a little more when undoing your hair.
    • With dry hair, braid your hair into a few sections, then use a straightener/hair straightener to run it through a few times.
    • If you tie the curls too tight or divide them into too small curls, you will have curly hair instead of wavy hair. It’s a good idea to create large curls; this way you will feel more comfortable when you lie down to sleep, and they will give you bouncy waves.
    • If you use a hair dryer, you should apply a hold cream, heat-resistant spray, and a large round brush. This way you will have wavy curls without damaging the hair.

    Warning

    • Make sure to braid or twist your hair tightly, but not so tight that it damages the hair.
    • If conditioner doesn’t work, use hairspray instead. You should start with a soft hairspray, as strong hairspray can make your hair look stiff.
    • Apply a small amount of styling product at first. You can add more if needed, but it is very difficult to remove without having to start all over again.

    Things you need

    • Dry conditioner
    • Comb
    • Towel
    • Elastic bands, fabric bands or bobby pins, depending on your curling method
