Personalize your profile. Go to “Your Account” again and click “Your Public Profile” under the “Personalization” subhead. You will be prompted to enter any details that you would like to allow showing on the public profile (name, location, birthday, anniversaries, website, image). Once done, click the “I have read the Terms and Conditions” box and then click continue. You will have to enter additional details about yourself. After clicking “Finish”, your profile will be complete.

  • If you take privacy seriously, limit the types of public information on your profile. For example, you can select a list with only generic names and locations.
  • You should be careful not to enter more than 4000 characters when asked for additional details. That’s Amazon’s maximum storage limit.

    • If you want to rename this list (it is named “New Wish List” by default), simply click on the “Edit list name” link after establish.
    • If you designate this list as “public”, it will be easier to give gifts to friends and family. They will be able to go through the list and select products.
    • You can make a specific Wedding List in a similar way: just select “Wedding List” instead of “Wish List” from within the “Your Account” range. You will be asked to enter information about yourself, your partner, and your wedding date. Once set up, this list functions like a traditional registry.
  • Advice

    • If you use Amazon very often, consider Prime membership. You’ll pay an annual fee, however, and you get two days of free shipping on a wide range of merchandise, plus free streaming of many movies and TV shows.
    • Once you’ve started shopping and reviewing products, Amazon will give you relevant recommendations. Click “Recommended For You” from the personalized homepage to see products made just for you.
    • Don’t forget to check out the “Today’s Deals” tab. You can see different great deals on offer every day, and sometimes with luck you will find something you want at a great price.
