How to Create a New Folder in Gmail

Open Gmail by accessing https://www.gmail.com from your computer’s web browser. You’ll see your Gmail inbox if you’re signed in.

• If you’re not signed in, enter your email address when prompted, then click NEXT , enter your password, and click NEXT .

Select an email. Click the box to the left of the email to select it.

• You cannot create a label without selecting an email; You can always remove the email from that label later.

Click the “Label” icon

(Label) at the top of the mailbox, just below the search bar to open a selection list.

• If you use an older version of Gmail, this icon is located on the left side of the screen.

Click the Create new option near the bottom of the drop-down list to open the menu.

Name the label. You will give your label any name in the “Please enter a new label name” field in the displayed window.

• Click a label in the drop-down list to save the email.

View the label’s email. If you want to see the contents of the label, do the following:

• Place the mouse pointer over a list of folders (such as Inbox ) in the left menu.
• Drag the slider down until you see the label.
  • If you’re using an older version of Gmail, you may have to click More at the bottom of the menu.
• Click the label to view the email.
