This wikiHow teaches you how to create a moving car in Minecraft. Although you can’t change the direction of the vehicle, you can build a vehicle that moves forward on its own. This method works on all versions of Minecraft.

Start a new game in Minecraft’s Creative mode. Although technically you can build a car in Survival mode on Minecraft, it is very difficult due to the scarcity of necessary resources. Creative mode allows players to build cars without worrying about running out of resources.

Open the Creative menu by:

Put the car building materials in the inventory. Move the following items from the inventory to the equipment bar:

Find a flat place. The Minecraft car model just goes straight ahead until it hits something and will no longer run. At the same time, there must always be at least one air mass underneath for the vehicle to move.

Create two parallel rows of slimes three blocks long. These two rows must be separated by exactly two blocks.

Connect two rows. Place a total of two slime blocks between the two rows of slimes. You should now have what looks like a capital “i”, this is the gathering area to prepare to build the car.

Build the bodywork. Add a layer of slime blocks above the gathering area, then break eight I-shaped slime blocks below. Thus you will have an I-shaped gathering area floating in the air.

Place a piston at the rear end of the car. The piston should be facing the rear center block. The easiest way to do this is to look at the rear of the vehicle, break the slime block in the center of the back, place the two blocks (on top of each other) on the ground as scaffolding, place the piston, break the scaffold and replace the slime block with the one that you broke.

Place the sticky piston. Break both blocks in the center, look at the front of the car again and place the two sticky pistons. You may need to break the slime block behind and replace it after the second sticky piston is placed.

Move to the front of the vehicle. You need to replace the piston that sticks closest to the front of the car with a piston that is usually facing the front of the car.

Replace the sticky front piston with a forward facing piston. Now, from front to back you will have:

Place the first redstone block on the front center slime block.

Place redstone blocks at the back. Place one redstone block in the middle of the slime block behind, the other block right in front of the previous block, above the sticky piston.

“Sit” into the car. Find a redstone-free area in the car and sit in.

Break the redstone block of the sticky piston. The car will start to move forward. You can stop the car by placing another redstone block above the sticky piston, or place any block in front of the vehicle.

Advice

You can decorate the car if you like, but make sure you don’t put any blocks under the car or above the pistons.
Building a tall car will get you a long way.

This vehicle will be stuck at any time if there is a block taking up space underneath the vehicle. For optimal results, you should make the car on the super flat world.
