To use the Wii Remote (also known as the Wiimote) and play on the Wii or Wii U, you need to sync the controller with the console first. This comes in handy if someone comes to your house to play with their Wii Remote. You can also sync the Wii Remote with your computer for use on the Dpphin emulator.

Open the SD card cover on the front of the Wii. If you use a Wii Mini, the Sync button can be found on the left side of the console, near the battery compartment.

Make sure no programs are running. The Wii may not sync if a game is using a channel. Make sure you have the Wii main menu open when syncing.
