Anyone who works on a computer knows that the machine will buzz during use. Thermal paste is used to conduct heat from the processor to a part called the “radiator”. Here, the heat sink will push out the heat to maintain a moderate temperature for the processor. This glue will dry out and need to be renewed periodically. However, if you use a component pry to scrape off the old glue, you should only use a plastic type to limit scratches and damage to parts. If you don’t have a plastic spudger, skip this step. Do the same with any surface with thermal paste. If old thermal paste is on other parts, use the same method to clean it. However, you should use a cotton swab, paper towel or soft material instead of the part pry, as other parts may be more fragile.
