Turn off the TV. If you don’t want to disturb any pixels while they are still lit, then turn off the TV and moreover when you turn off the TV you can more easily detect stains and dirt on the screen.

Find a lint-free towel. The cloth should be soft and dry, like that used to clean eyeglasses. This is the best choice for LCD screens as it won’t leave any lint on the screen.

Clean the screen. Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe away dirt on the screen.

  • Do not use excessive force on the screen when encountering stubborn stains. At this point, you just need to apply the method below.
  • Do not use tissues, toilet paper, or old shirts to clean. These materials are harder than fine fabrics, which can scratch the screen and re-stick the fabric on the screen.

Check the screen. If the screen is already clean, you do not need to wipe it with water. If the TV screen has streaks of dried water, dirt or other stains, move on to the next method to make the TV screen shiny.

Clean the screen frame. The hard plastic frame around the screen is less sensitive than the screen itself, so you can use a fine microfiber cloth or normal duster to clean it.

Turn off the TV. Again, if you don’t want any pixels to be noisy, and you can easily see any dirt on the screen, then turn off the TV.

Dissolve vinegar with water in a ratio of 1:1. Vinegar is a natural cleaner, and is a safer and less expensive choice than other cleaners.

Dip a microfiber cloth into the vinegar solution and gently wipe the screen. For hard-to-remove stains, you can gently rub your hands and remember to always clean the screen in a circular motion.

  • Do not pour or spray vinegar solution directly on the TV screen as it may permanently damage the screen.
  • If you want, you can buy cleaning solutions for LCD screens at computer stores.
  • Do not use cleaning solutions containing ammonia, ethyl alcohol, acetone or ethyl chloride. As these chemicals can damage the screen.

Wipe the screen frame. With a hard plastic frame that has a lot of dirt, you can use a paper towel dipped in vinegar solution and scrub it clean. Then, use another clean paper towel to dry.

Check TV screen warranty. If the screen is badly scratched, and still under warranty, you’re better off getting a new one. Because you may not only not be able to fix it, but you may even cause other damage that is not covered by the warranty.

Use a scratch remover kit. This is the safest method to remove scratches from your LCD screen. You can buy scratch removal kits at TV stores.

Use lubricating oil. Buy polish and spray a small amount directly onto the scratch. Let the paint dry on its own.
  • Advice

    • Carefully review the cleaning instructions in the manual that came with the monitor purchase.
    • You can apply these methods to clean the computer screen.
    • You can also use special screen cleaning cloths available at computer stores.

    Warning

    • With TV screens with projectors on the back, if you apply force, you can damage the screens because they are very thin.
    • If the cleaning cloth is not dry enough and drips with water, it may cause a short circuit.
