This is an article on how to change the application icon on your computer, phone or tablet. Changing app icons is a way to customize your mobile or computer home screen with images and colors that match your taste and taste. Save the icon you need to use in the photo library. If you’ve updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 14 or later, you don’t need to download a third-party app to change the icon! Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad. The Shortcuts app has a blue icon with pink and green squares. You’ll see it on your home screen or in the Performance and Finance folder in the app library.

Select the new icon that represents the application. Proceed as follows:

  • Tap the placeholder icon next to “New Shortcut 1” at the bottom of the screen.
  • Tap Choose Photo to open the photo.
  • Select the picture that you want to use as the icon. If the photo is not already displayed in a square, you will follow the on-screen instructions to crop the image.

Replace “New Shortcut 1” with the name of the application. The name you enter here will be the display name of the application on the home screen.

Tap Add in the upper right corner. Now the new icon of the application is displayed on the screen.

  • To open the app, simply tap the new icon on the home screen to open the shortcut and tap the name of the app.

  • Do a touch and hold on an empty area of the home screen, and then select Themes .
  • Tap Icons .
  • Swipe the screen up to see all the icons and touch the icon pack to check it out. However, not all icon packs are free.
  • Tap Download if it’s a free option, or price if it’s a paid option, and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm.
  • To use the icon you downloaded, tap and hold on an empty area of the home screen, select Themes , tap Icons , and tap My page . in the upper right corner. Tap Icons under “My Stuff”, select a few icons to replace, and tap Apply .

Install a new launcher. Since Android is one of the operating systems that offers the most customization options for users, there are hundreds or even thousands of ways to change icons. The easiest way is to install a new app launcher – which changes the design of the Android home screen. If you have a third-party launcher, you can often install more icon packs with more Android customization options than what’s available on your phone or tablet.

  • Some Androids have support for many unique icon packs. Enter the name of the Android model you’re using and the keyword “Icon Packs” to see what you can find.

Get an icon pack for your launcher. After installing the launcher, you will look through the settings to find a special section for downloading icon packs. If you can’t find a way to get icon packs from the launcher, open Google Play, then search for the launcher’s name and the keyword “icon packs”. If you use a popular launcher, you’ll find tons of free (and paid) options!

Load and create a new icon. Windows icons use the ICO format, but if you have a PNG file, you can convert the format using an online conversion tool like ConvertICO. If you don’t like creating icons yourself, check out a free icon download site like Flaticon to get beautiful icon packs that can be converted to the Windows icon format. Some other options are Findicons, Graphic Burger and Icon Archive.

Create a shortcut for the icon you want to change. This allows you to adjust the icon on your computer’s home screen:

  • Press the Windows key to open the Start menu and navigate to the application.
  • Right-click the application, select More and select Open file location . This opens the app in a new folder.

Select the icon and click Open . Open the folder containing the .ICO-formatted icon and click it. This will add the icon to the previous desktop.

Download icon files for Mac. Mac icons must be in the .INCS file format because it automatically converts to a properly sized image. Check out icon download sites like Flaticon and Findicons.
