Reply to spam messages with the content “STOP”. “STOP” is the most common reply to marketing messages. If promotional messages from a service you are not subscribed to continue to be sent, try this. While it’s unlikely that it will work, it’s pretty quick and easy to do. If effective, you will save time and do not need to ask your carrier to block the number.

  • If you’ve set up “signature” to autofill your message, don’t forget to remove or disable it before sending.

Do not respond to strange ads. Some promotional messages are automatically programmed to be sent to random numbers. In this case, answering (even with just “STOP”) would be detrimental. The reply message lets the program know that the number is active, so you’ll continue to be bothered. If you receive spam from an unknown source, ignore it. If promotional messages continue to be sent, you should try another method.
