Literally, being great means creating admiration. Admiration is not something that people show a lot these days. So, to be truly great, you need to find a way to inspire this rare emotion. There are many ways to be admired, so don’t think that the way others see you is the only way to be great. Being great is redefined every day. You can help redefine it.
Steps
Use your talent to inspire admiration
- Some theories suggest that it takes 10,000 hours of practice before you can master something. [1] X Source of Research However, it is quite possible to achieve outstanding talent even before 1,000 hours of practice. However, people with truly amazing and admirable talents — such as Bill Gates, Mozart, Feliks Zemdegs — spend a lot of time preparing to be great.
- As you work on your talent, find ways to motivate yourself. Let’s break down the goal. Reward yourself with free time, a snack, or a new video game after you get what you want.
- Start with small things. Rarely do people develop talent and succeed so quickly. Usually, it takes a while for talent to develop. So let’s start small. Try to direct yourself to the great.
- At the same time, think about the “biggest stage” for you to show off your talents. The magician wants to perform in the Vegas hall. The singer wants the song to hit #1 on the Billboard chart. Football player wants to win the World Cup. Don’t be afraid to dream big when it comes to skill training. That’s part of your motivation to keep going.
- Always consult other experts in relevant fields for your improvement. The desire to be great is directly related to the willingness to develop the best talent possible. For example, ask magicians for help; contact other actors to learn how to act; Join football club to develop your skills.
- Contact people who can become mentors. You might say, “I hope I can get some advice from the best flute player in the world on flute recitals to Tchaikovsky’s No. 2 Symphony. I’d appreciate any help!”
- Understand what others gain by becoming a mentor. Mentoring is not a one-way relationship, experts teach beginners how to do something. Mentors will receive value and joy in assisting you to succeed, helping to train you to become a more outstanding and professional individual. That’s the important thing!
- Respect advisors. You may think there’s something wrong with your advisor’s advice, but give it a try before you say no. There’s a reason they’re the experts, not you. Respect them by taking advice seriously.
- Give up the ego. Not only will this make it easier to let go of mistakes, but it will also help you develop a more selfless and humble attitude. Most people think that the person who displays greatness but remains humble is “exceptionally great”.
Use personality to inspire admiration
- Show humor through words. Wordplay is a great way to be super funny because we use words all the time. Consider the following pun examples:
- “Some people bring happiness wherever they go, others wherever they go.” – Oscar Wilde.
- “Men rarely beat girls with glasses.” – Dorothy Parker.
- Use body humor to make you laugh. Physical comedy can include parody of famous characters, pantomime, or exaggerated comedy. Pick one, and try incorporating it into your humor routine.
- Tell interesting stories. We often think that good storytellers are funny because we love to hear stories. People need stories, so we like someone who can tell stories. Learn the basics of storytelling so you become a better person than you are.
- Travel to new and exciting places. Traveling does not mean spending a lot of money or spending time. Try going somewhere nearby that you’ve never been before. You will learn new places, have new experiences, and will have a chance to convince everyone there how amazing you are.
- Learn about unexpected things. Being adventurous also means starting a journey in the mind . Now that sounds cheesy, but it’s absolutely true. The most amazing people in the world travel to places that are new, exciting, and far away both in their minds and in actually going there.
- Don’t be afraid to go against the crowd if that’s what you want to do. Sometimes a great person takes a risk by following their heart and doing it themselves, even if it goes against the advice of others. Take risks by doing what you want, not what others want you to do.
- Try not to focus on “becoming great”. Instead, focus on what makes you great, like developing ways to turn recycled materials into biodiesel, or learning how to play ice hockey. This way, people will be impressed with your awesomeness before they have time to wonder.
- Choose a branded accessory that people will recognize you as soon as they see it. Use it, but don’t overdo it. Ignore any other people’s comments (perhaps they’re jealous or insecure) and wear it with confidence.
- Sometimes, no style is an affirmation. Some people really don’t care about fashion, clothes, or accessories. They think so because they are passionate about other things. If you’re this type of person, be comfortable with the lack of style. Don’t judge others because they spend more time on clothes.
- Here are a few personality traits that people often think of as “great”:
- Dedication/honesty. You are extremely dedicated to whatever you start, and honestly admit your mistakes.
- Reliable. You can always be trusted when others need you, no matter the reason.
- Kindness/generosity. You are willing to give away your shirt if you can, and if it makes someone else happy.
- Ambitious. No matter how big your goals are, you never step on someone to succeed.
- Have a vision. You have a broad vision; You know that the simple things in life — friends, family, love, health — are often overlooked the most.
- Have principle. You know your beliefs, and you have good reason to hold them.
Give to inspire admiration
- Volunteer teacher. Teach young children how to read, how to do basic math, or how to exercise. Be patient and remember that not all children learn the same way!
- Be a guide for children. Like you, children need a guide too. Children want reliable information about relationships, drugs, careers, and life. You can become a mentor for a child you like.
- Take time to play. If you are fun, positive, responsible, and mature, your child will enjoy hanging out with you. You don’t have to work very hard to be great in the eyes of children. Spend some time with your kids and you’ll find out that hanging out is fun, too.
- If you’re young, join a student group. It’s not as big as the city council or government council, but it’s just as important to everyone around. The more you participate, the more you will discover yourself.
- Connect through your local religious group. If you are part of a religious community, ask others in your church if they know how to give to charity. Often, churches have programs or information to help people most effectively.
- Consider small loans. A microloan is a small amount (eg 500 thousand VND) that you lend to others. Loan recipients often come from very poor countries; they use that money to build hospitals, schools, generators, or farms. After they have used the loan, you will get the money back. It’s a great way to make a difference in the world.
- Perform random acts of kindness. Please hold the door to help a person in difficulty catch the bus; Give a homeless person the rest of their lunch, tell a coworker that you appreciate their hard work. These small acts of kindness take no energy or resources to perform, but have a huge impact. [6] X Research Sources
Advice
- Being great can come from your knowledge. Others will look to you for your extensive knowledge of all sorts of interesting things.
- Greatness is when you are true to yourself and confident. Try new and creative things!
- Learn to speak a foreign language. People admire those who can do what they can’t.
- Follow your thoughts; people will respect you. Do you have a strange idea? Let’s make it a reality.
- Remember that some people will say they hate you, but don’t let that affect you, perhaps just because they are jealous.
- Do not worry. People criticize you at first but then they will know your worth.
- Live the truth, not live according to the will of others. In other words, be great because YOU want to, not because you feel you have to be great to others.
- Einstein, Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Bucky Fuller, and other greats are all great, but they don’t have many of the others listed above. Find something you enjoy, do it well, and you’ll be great.
- Become famous. It is very easy when you become extremely kind to people and take responsibility. Be the leader, but don’t always control everything around you.
- You don’t need to be quiet and dangerous to be great! Drugs and drinking won’t make you great. If you have at least a few ideas, and are willing to try new things, you can do it!
Warning
- Don’t exaggerate how great you are. If you’re cool enough, people will notice.
- Don’t try to be someone else, because despite being admired by others, you can lose your self-esteem, which is worse. However, you can start doing new things or change your interests.
- Don’t give people a lot of things for free, or they’ll just think you’re great because you give them stuff. That’s not right.
- Don’t do stupid things. Being great doesn’t necessarily mean you have to do something dangerous, especially if it involves other people and they don’t want to do it.
- Never imitate someone who is liked by everyone. Be yourself!
