You need to understand how Facebook Pay works with Facebook Marketplace. There are two ways to buy or sell products on Facebook Marketplace: local deals and delivery through Facebook.

  • Deliverable items will be listed by the seller with a “Buy now” option, so the buyer can pay for the product via Facebook Pay. [1] X Research Source
    • If a merchant’s PayPal account is linked to Facebook Pay, they can receive funds through PayPal.
    • If a buyer’s PayPal account is linked to Facebook Pay, they can pay for the item through PayPal.
  • The “Buy now” option is not available for local transactions. You can only buy with PayPal (or receive payment through PayPal) for items listed as deliverable.
    • If you want to use PayPal to pay or sell products locally, you can talk to the other party and proceed with the payment through PayPal or Facebook Messenger.
