Using the Mobile Application

Tap the blue Directions button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. This is the action that starts Directions mode, and prompts you for your starting and destination locations.

  • The process of adding multiple destinations on iOS and Android is the same.
Enter the starting position. By default, Maps will use your device’s current location. You can enter any location by tapping “Your location” then entering it yourself.

  • Tap “Choose on map” to mark the location you want to use as a starting point on the map. Drag and zoom the map to mark the location.
Tap “Choose destination” and enter the first destination. You can enter an address, find a business name or address, or tap “Choose on map”. If you select “Choose on map”, you can drag and zoom the map to mark the location of the destination.
Don’t forget to choose to drive or walk. Multi-destination is not available when changing vehicles or flying.
Press the ⋮ button in the upper-right corner of the screen. This button appears after you enter your starting location, you will see a route displayed on the map.
Click “Add stop” . This will draw a new line below your first destination.

Enter the second destination. You can search by location or address, or click “Choose on map” to bookmark the location.

Using Google Maps on the Web

Open the Google Maps website on your computer. The Google Maps website allows you to create maps of up to 9 destinations.
Click the Directions button on the right side of the search box. This opens the sidebar where you enter your starting point and first destination.
Select travel mode. Use the buttons on the sidebar to choose how to move. You can set multiple destinations for driving, walking or biking, which cannot be set when you have to change vehicles or take a plane. [2] X Research Source
Enter the starting point. You can enter an address, business or landmark, click on the location on the map. Click “My location” at the top of the search results to use your computer’s current location. Your browser may ask you to allow Google Maps to determine your current location.

  • You must enter a starting point before adding multiple destinations.
Enter the first destination. Click on the “Choose destination” dialog box and enter the same location as the starting point.

Click “Directions” if not already done. If you start by selecting your first destination (for example, clicking on a point on the map or searching for a destination as soon as the map is opened), click the “Directions” circle button to add a starting point and destination arrive before more destinations can be made.
Click the “+” button under the destination. This button allows you to add a destination line below the second destination.

  • Don’t forget to set both the starting point and the destination, otherwise you won’t see the “+” button.
  • If you don’t see the “+” button, you need to close “Route options”. You may have chosen the wrong method of travel, as the plane or change of vehicle does not support adding multiple destinations.

Add a second destination. After clicking the “+” button, enter the second destination the same way as the first. You will see the route adjusted, you are taken to the 2nd destination after reaching the 1st destination.
Repeat the steps above to add the remaining destinations. You can keep adding destinations until you complete the trip. You can only choose one means of transportation during the trip.

  • You can set up to 10 locations, including the starting point. If your trip has more than one destination, you must create multiple maps.
Drag the dots next to the destination to reorder. You can drag and drop the dots next to the destination if you need to reorder your trip. The new route will recalculate itself.
Click on the route you want to use. If there are multiple routes for a trip, they will be listed below the destinations, alongside the total travel time. Click on the route to see each destination in turn.

  • You can’t send multi-destination trips to a mobile device, so this option will be grayed out.
  • Click the “Print” button to print the map. You have 2 options: print with the map or just print the text instructions.

    • You can click the Share button and send the map link to others via email.
