Today, when you still have to go home to work, many people find it necessary to access work email while at home or on the way home. If your company allows it, you can connect to work email using Outlook Web App (formerly Outlook Web Access). You can use the traditional Outlook program or your mobile phone. Usually, you need to contact your company’s IT department for a successful connection.

Find out if your company uses Office 365 or an Exchange server that supports Outlook Web App (Access). Depending on the Microsoft product the company uses, there are different ways to access email from a web browser. If your company uses Office 365 for business, or an Exchange server is configured for web access, you can use Outlook Web App (formerly Outlook Web Access) to view work email.

Go to the login page of your corporate email service. If your company uses Outlook Web App, you may be able to access the sign-in page depending on how the email service is configured:

  • Office 365 for business – Go to portal.office.com .
  • Exchange Server – Access the login page for the Exchange server. For example, if the company’s name is “Interslice,” the Exchange login page might be mail.interslice.com .

Log in with your full email address and password. Enter your Office 365 for business or Exchange email address and password. If the login information is not available, contact IT.

Open mailbox. Once signed in, you can open your account’s inbox. The operation on Office 365 for business and Exchange server will be slightly different:

Enter your work email address and password. Outlook will automatically detect the type of server you are connecting to. You will be asked to re-enter your password during the setup process.

Access work email. Once you’ve signed in to your account, you can send and receive work emails through the Outlook program. Just select your inbox in the left navigation menu.

View account and server information. You’ll see your email address and password, along with the server, port, and security type. You can keep the default settings, but you may have to change according to the instructions of your IT department.
