Create a valid email address and PayPal account associated with that email address. If you are an independent contractor, all you need is to receive payments remotely online. This option is especially useful for online freelancers. Many businesses that employ contract workers prefer this method because one-time payments can be easily made.

  • For this method, the business owner will also need a PayPal account. Check with them if you’re not sure they accept this payment method.
  • If the payer doesn’t have a PayPal account, you can still request money from them. After accessing the My PayPal page, click Send and Request. Next, click Request Money and enter the person’s email address and the amount requested for payment. Next, you can add notes if you want. Finally, click Request, PayPal will send the request and notify you when payment is received.
