How much does a vet tech make?
According to the most recent data provided by the Bureau for Labor Statistics (May 2020), the average veterinary technician salary in the USA is $33,870. This represents a very slight increase in 2019 salary levels of $33,280.
Those in the top 10% pay bracket for the profession earn an average annual salary of $48,330 whilst those in the bottom 10% and in entry-level positions earn just $22,340.
Income potential is particularly influenced by where you live and work – from a low vet tech pay of $26,480 in Arkansas to a high of $43,760 in New York.
The range is more significant when you examine the data at a Metro or City level. Vet Techs working in Southeast Alabama earn an average salary of only $20,770 while those in Southeast Mississippi earn $48,190 representing a difference of over $27,000 per annum between the two localities.
