Four members of FaZe Clan have been accused of dealing in a disastrous altcoin they were paid to promote.
FaZe Clan has faced many controversies in its time but none that has managed to claim four team members at once, with Kay being dropped entirely from the organisation’s line-up.
Jarvis, Nikan, and Teeqo are currently only suspended but all four have been caught up in a drama surrounding their promotion of the Save The Kids altcoin, which they encouraged fans to buy.
The cryptocurrency has been promoted by a number of famous influencers recently, including Ricegum, but Dexerto reports that they were paid to do so and immediately sold off their currency afterwards – a so-called ‘pump and dump’.
As often happens with altcoins the value sunk after only a day or two and everyone that bought the tokens lost a considerable amount of money.
FaZe Clan management has been quick to distance themselves from the team members, stating that, ‘FaZe Clan had absolutely no involvement with our member’s activity in the cryptocurrency space. We strongly condone their recent behavior. The trust and respect of our fans has been, and will always be, our number one priority.’
Kay has already apologised for his involvement, claiming that he meant no ‘ill intent’ in promoting the cryptocurrency. The others are yet to comment.
Kay, Nika, and Teego have all been with FaZe Clan for close to a decade, while Jarvis, the younger brother of Kay, joined in 2019. Although Kay now seems to be gone for good it’s unclear if and when the other three may return.
