NEWAYGO COUNTY, MI – The death of an electric lineman near Baldwin on Wednesday is under investigation by the state.
Jesse Ricord, a 38-year-old father of six from Marne, died while working around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 8, according to a news release from his employer, Great Lakes Energy.
The cause of Ricord’s death is unknown and under investigation by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to the news release. Great Lakes Energy also is conducting its own investigation.
Further information about the circumstances surrounding his death were not released.
Ricord worked for the Newaygo office of Great Lakes Energy, an electric cooperative.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss,” GLE President and CEO Bill Scott said in a prepared statement. “Jesse was a highly respected lineman who dedicated his career to serving the members of GLE for 16 years. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his family as well as his work family as we mourn the loss of Jesse. He will be greatly missed by all.”
Ricord is survived by his wife, Jean, and their six children.
