I restored my laptop back to factory settings and wiped out all of the data and settings that I had on the laptop. I successfully set up the laptop and then was asked if I wanted to update to the newest version of Windows 10. I accepted the update. The update downloaded quickly and then installed quickly. I received a blue screen that said, “Why did my PC restart?” below this headline it says, “There is a problem keeping us from getting your PC ready to use, but we think an update will help get things working again. Here’s what to do next:” there are four bullet points below these instructions that state:
1. Make sure your PC is plugged in. Check!
2. If you are using wi-fi to connect, select Next and pick your Network from the dropdown. Check!
3. If you this PC does not use wifi, please insert a network cable to connect to the network and select next. No access to trying it this way Only wifi.
4. Once you are connected, select next and update will install. I am connected, I press next, and then…
I wait. Approximately 5 minutes as the display read, “Restarting”. Then it comes up with the setup screen to set up the computer as a fresh install. I set it up. It says, “Loading” on a blue screen. Then it returns, right back to the “Why did my PC Restart?” and the cycle continues.
I have found zero troubleshooting steps for this. I need help. Can you help? Specs for the laptop are below. I have attached photos in the order that the screens are presented.

By the way, thanks for posting the images for us to see, hopefully we’re able to help resolve this problem.
Well, neither actually. I purchased the device from a friend. So he told me that I could erase all of the data. So, I went to settings and restored the device back to factory settings. I even cleared the D drive. The next day, the restore completed. There was a task window asking if I wanted to update two Windows 10 .1 (I believe it was .1. It already had Windows 10 installed).
I said yes. And the rest is included in the original post.
And most definitely on the pictures! After reading through hundreds of forum posts trying to find a solution to this issue, I noticed a recurring theme of people not doing so and it being requested. Haha
Hi Wmalvini,
Thanks for providing your service tag information. You may wish to transfer the system to your name by filling out the Ownership Transfer form.
Unfortunately, based on the service tag number, the warranty has expired. You can await a reply from other community members or contact the Dell Out of Warranty Support Team.
Sorry for late response but you were able to fix the computer?
No aopology is necessary! I apologize, for not noticing there was a reply to my posting until just now!
No, I have not been able to fix my computer yet 🙁 I also have not been able to find any additional troubleshooting steps for it either.
