Cracked floor tile repairs.
- Johnavallance82 on Jan 28, 2018Is one side of the crack a new extension? Could be where the ground hassettled. Did you do the work yourself? Maybe an Insurance claim? Or get the Builder and or Tiler back to see what they have to say. The tiles will need to be lifter and new tiles reset. If not a newish floor, you may have a problem with your foundations……….
- 27524803 on Jan 28, 2018The fact that the cracks are all in a line (like one single big crack) looks like an indication that you might be having foundation or settlement problems, rather than having had something drop on the tiles… you might want to get that checked out before it creates a bigger problem
- V Smith on Jan 28, 2018Since you cannot replace the tiles how about trying to repair the tiles with automotive body filler (Bondo). You can work it into the cracks and once it cures use craft paints and cosmetic sponges to color match the repair to surrounding tiles, then seal with poly. Bondo can be like magic.
- Saundra Curry on Jan 29, 2018I have repaired ceramic tile with Bondo. However, I first enlarged the crack with a Dremel tool to make the crack large enough for the Bondo to get into. My tile looked like Carrera Marble, so using acrylic paint and a feather, I was able to match the repaired crack to look like a natural part of the tile. If that is not an option for you, just get acrylic paints from a craft store and mix colors to get an almost exact match to the tile you are repairing. Another option is to take a tile to the home store and have them match an acrylic paint to the tile color.
- SafetyCross on Jan 29, 2018It has been like this for 15 years and has not got any worse. I just want to fix the tiles but cannot get anything to match.
