A driving expert has taken to TikTok to explain the rules behind a common road sign which some motorists have admitted to not fully understanding. Theory test expert, Annie – who has over 700,000 TikTok followers, has cleared up the rules behind the road sign which instructs parking motorists’ not to return within ‘one hour’.
In the video, Annie explains: “I’ve been asked to explain signs like this one. This sign is saying that between Monday and Saturday, you can park between 8 o’clock in the morning and 6 o’clock at night, but only for one hour.
“No return within one hour – that simply means that you’re not allowed to drive out of your parking space, drive around the block, and go straight back into that parking space. Well, not for an hour anyway,” she finished.

In the post’s caption, she clarified the rule, saying: “At other times you can park for as long as you want to.” Although some drivers may find this sign easy to understand, it appears a number of people – some of whom have been driving for years – this sign is one that sometimes causes confusion.
In response to the TikTok video, one person commented: “I been driving years and still don’t understand these signs.. I do now thankyou.” Another said: “How will anyone know if you come back for another hour?”
A third wrote: “I always thought it meant you couldn’t leave for one hour after parking.” Some people however, are in disbelief that many road users’ don’t understand the sign.
