Bake Off legend Mary Berry reveals she two-timed her future husband when they first met
BAKE Off legend Mary Berry has lifted the lid on her fruity past — revealing that she two-timed her future husband when they first met.
The baking queen, 84, said she wanted to “keep her options open” despite clicking with Paul Hunnings.
Paul was “the London one” while there were “several” boyfriends in Bath, where she studied catering during the week.
The spicy revelations threaten to crumble the octogenarian’s clean-cut image. Mary revealed: “Paul was a friend of my brother’s, and I met him and we sort of did things together.
“But I had another boyfriend in Bath, and he was in London and I used to go home at the weekend. There are weekends you see — I used to drive home on the A4, (as) there was no M4, and I used to go home Friday night and go back on Sunday night.
“Paul was the London one and I had a Bath one, actually there were several in Bath . . . ”
She added: “You keep your options open. To cut a long story short, we (Paul) have been married 50 years and I wouldn’t change a thing really.”
Mary married Paul in 1966 before starting her baking career in the 1970s.
She shot to fame as co-judge with Paul Hollywood, on seven BBC series of Bake Off.
She won over millions of fans with her cheeky innuendoes, telling one contestant: “It’s all in the wrist action” and another: “I like your sausage.” But she quit in 2016 when it jumped ship to Channel 4.

Host Sue Perkins, 50 — along with Mel Giedroyc, 51 — also refused to “follow the dough” and interviewed Mary for her podcast, An Hour or So With.
On it, Mary also admitted to being terrible at school and hiding homework, with “break” her favourite lesson of each day.
She said: “I was naughty. We had to walk to school and I would be looking in the garden, patting the dog and I would often arrive late.
“Homework was something that was left on the shelf, or didn’t actually get home, or if it did I would say ‘no homework today’.”
