Pokemon GO: How to Evolve Feebas into Milotic

Pokemon GO included special evolutions with the 3rd generation of Pokemon. It’s similar to the handheld Pokemon games that require the trainers to meet specific requirements to evolve certain Pokemon. Some Pokemon required holding a special item while others required trading in order to evolve. Feebas in Pokemon GO also requires specific conditions in order to evolve into the mystical Milotic.

However, it’s one of the only Pokemon that requires players choose it as their “buddy” Pokemon. Players need to choose Feebas as their buddy Pokemon and then walk with Feebas for 20km. This is similar to how players can evolve Eevee into Espeon or Umbreon, though Eevee only requires 10km.

Feebas requires similar mechanics. In order to evolve Feebas into Milotic, trainers need to select it as a Buddy Pokemon and walk it 20km. It also requires 100 Feebas candies. Here’s how to evolve Feebas into Milotic:

1. From the Pokemon GO home screen, tap on the trainer Avatar.
2. Tap on the Buddy button.
3. Switch the current Buddy Pokemon with Feebas. Confirm the Switch.
4. Select the Feebas that needs to be evolved.
5. Walk 20km with the chosen Feebas Buddy.
6. Collect 100 Feebas candies. Every 5km with Feebas as a Buddy gives 1 Feebas candy.
7. After completing all the requirements, tap Feebas Buddy and evolve.

Feebas will then evolve into the magical Milotic. It’s important to note that the specific Feebas players want to evolve has to be walked the full 20km. No distance walked on other Feebas transfers over to other Feebas. It’s better to evolve a Feebas with the highest CP/IV combo to get a powerful Milotic in the end.

Once players have managed to evolve a Feebas into Milotic, they will be one step closer to completing the Jirachi Special Research quest.
