SOME readers have been in touch in recent weeks, wondering what has happened to Frosty’s Ramblings.
The weekly wildlife, working-class history and curiosity column by Peter Frost appeared every Friday for a decade, but Frosty has had health problems which have stopped him from writing it in recent weeks.
We, and he, had hoped this might be a temporary state of affairs, but on discussion with Peter and Ann Frost we are reluctantly forced to announce the end of this long-running readers’ favourite. Assistant editor Ros Sitwell, who first commissioned the column, and I visited Peter and Ann this week both to talk things over and to thank Frosty for an outstanding contribution to our pages over the years.
This won’t be the last you hear from Frosty in this pages, but for all those who have written in and the many more who have missed their Friday fix, we’re sorry that there won’t be further Ramblings, and we passed on the huge affection in which his columns were held. Thanks, Frosty, from your comrades at the paper and on behalf of your readers.

The Morning Star is unique, as a lone socialist voice in a sea of corporate media. We offer a platform for those who would otherwise never be listened to, coverage of stories that would otherwise be buried.
The rich don’t like us, and they don’t advertise with us, so we rely on you, our readers and friends. With a regular donation to our monthly Fighting Fund, we can continue to thumb our noses at the fat cats and tell truth to power.
