How to Forward Mail from Yahoo to Gmail

This wikiHow teaches you how to forward emails you receive on Yahoo to your Gmail inbox. This operation needs to be done on the computer. Remember that the Gmail address that you forward messages from Yahoo to right is different from the alternate email address you provided in your Yahoo account.

Enable mail forwarding on Yahoo

Open Yahoo inbox. Go to https://mail.yahoo.com/ on your computer’s web browser. Your Yahoo inbox will open if you’re signed in.

If you’re not signed in to your Yahoo account, enter your email address and password to continue.

Switch back to the old version of Yahoo. Unfortunately, the latest version of Yahoo interface does not have an email forwarding option in the settings (Settings). You can revert to an old version that allows email forwarding by: ^{[1] X Research Sources}

Click Settings in the upper-right corner of the page (if it’s a purple gear, you’re using an older version of Yahoo).
Click Switch to classic Mail in the lower-left corner of the menu.
Click Switch back to classic Mail at the bottom of the window.
Wait for the page to reload.

Select the “Settings” gear

Scroll down and enter your Gmail address. You’ll need to enter the Gmail address you want to forward Yahoo emails to in the text box below the “Access your Yahoo Mail elsewhere” heading.

You need to make sure this is not the Gmail address you associated with your Yahoo account.

Click Verify . This blue button is to the right of the Gmail address. Yahoo will send a confirmation email to the Gmail address you provided.

Click Save in the lower-left corner of the window. The Settings page will close.

At this step, you can switch back to the new version of Yahoo by clicking the blue One click away from your upgraded mailbox button at the bottom left of your Yahoo mailbox.

Verify Gmail address. To proceed, you:

Open your Gmail inbox and sign in (if necessary).
Open the email “Please verify your email address” from Yahoo (you may need to find this email in the Spam folder).
Click the click here (click here) link in the email.
Sign in to Yahoo when prompted.
Click the blue Verify button in the middle of the page.

Enter your Yahoo email password. Enter your Yahoo password in the “Password” field near the top of the pop-up window.

Click Add Account . Options in the lower right corner of the pop-up window.

If you receive an error saying POP is a paid feature, click the “POP Server” drop-down box, then select pop.mail.yahoo.com in the resulting drop-down menu. Click Add Account again.

Close the pop-up window. So both Yahoo and Gmail accounts have been set up to allow forwarding of Yahoo emails to Gmail inbox.

You may need to refresh your Gmail inbox page (or click Inbox on the left side of the page) first for the Yahoo email to appear.

Advice

Forwarded Yahoo messages will also show up in your phone’s inbox if you have the Gmail app installed.

Warning

Yahoo regularly fills users’ inboxes with ads and unwanted emails, so your Gmail inbox can fill up quickly once you start forwarding messages from Yahoo.
