Specify the type of chart you want to draw. In Excel there are 3 basic chart types, each of which will fit a data type: [1] X Research Source

Give the chart a title. The header is the individual name of each piece of data, usually located in the first row of the spreadsheet, starting from cell B1 to the right.

Set chart labels. Chart labels to show rows of data in column A (starting at cell A2 ). For example, time data (“Day 1”, “Day 2”, etc.) is commonly used for labeling.

Enter data for the chart. Starting in the cell just below the first heading and just to the right of the first label (usually cell B2 ), enter the metric you want to use to graph.

Select a chart format. In the chart selection menu, click on the chart display version (e.g. 3D ) that you want to use in the Excel document. The chart will be created in the document.

Add a chart name. Double click on “Chart Title” at the top of the chart, then delete the “Chart Title” text and type the name of your chart there, then click in an empty area on the chart.

    Save document. You do the following:

    • Windows – Click File > Save As , double click This PC , click a storage location on the left side of the window, type the name of the document in the “” field. File name” and click Save .
    • Mac – Click File > Save As… , enter a document name in the “Save As” field, choose a save location by clicking in the “Where” dialog box. ” (Location) and click a folder, select Save .

    • You can change the shape of the chart in the Design tab.
    • If you don’t want to select a specific chart type, you can click Recommended Charts and select a chart from the Excel rollout.
