In this article, wikiHow will show you how to determine if you’re using your computer’s administrator account, and how to change an existing user account to administrator status. To change the computer account, you must have administrator privileges.

Look for the “Administrator” tag under your name. Your profile name is at the top of the page; If you see “Administrator” under your name and email address, this is an administrator account.

  • Without using an administrator account, you cannot change other users’ accounts.

Click on Family & other people . This is the tab located on the left side of the window. If you are not an administrator, you cannot see this option.

Click on Administrator . You’ll see the option at the top of the pop-up menu.

  • Alternatively, you can click on Standard user to revoke administrator rights.

  • If Contrp Panel is not found, type “contrp panel” into Start and click Contrp Panel at the top of the search results window.

Find “Administrator” below the account name. In the top right corner of the window, you’ll see your account’s icon and name; If you’re using an administrator account, you’ll see “Administrator” appear below the name.

  • If you see the line “Standard user”, you cannot change the account type of other users.
