How to Post Links on Facebook

This wikiHow teaches you how to post links to Internet content on your Facebook page. Most pages have their own button for sharing to Facebook; If the content doesn’t come with a Facebook share button, just copy the link and paste it into Facebook.

Access the content you want to share. Open a web browser or entertainment app on your phone and navigate to the page, video, image, or other content you want to post to Facebook.

You can share content from many apps like YouTube and Pinterest.

Find the “Facebook” button. Most pages with a Facebook share button will display a Facebook icon somewhere near the content (like a video).

In some cases, you may need to tap the Share button first for the Facebook option to appear.
If you don’t see the share button, proceed with the “copy link” method.

Click the “Facebook” button. On some pages, this button usually has a white “f” on a blue background. A Facebook window will open on your phone.

If you’re asked to log into Facebook, tap the Facebook App option, which usually shows up on a mobile browser.

Click Post in the upper-right corner of the window. The link will be posted to the Facebook Timeline.

You can also add text by tapping the “Say something about this” field and entering text for the post.

Access the content you want to share. Open your frequently used browser and find the page, video, image, or other content you want to share to Facebook.

Find the “Facebook” button. The Facebook share button with a white “f” on a blue background is usually located near the content you want to share.

In some cases (such as YouTube), you’ll need to click the Share button to bring up the Facebook button.

Click the “Facebook” button. Facebook will open in a new window.

If you’re not logged into Facebook, you’ll need to enter your email address and password before continuing.

Go to the content you want to link to. Open a mobile browser and navigate to the image, video, page or other content you want to share.

Most apps that support copying links have a Facebook sharing option.

Select the URL of the page. Tap the address bar at the top of the browser screen to select the URL.

Some apps also have a Share option, which you can tap to open the Copy link task.

Copy the URL. Click the selected URL and then select Copy from the drop-down menu that appears. The URL will be copied to your phone’s cache, then you can open Facebook and post.

Close the browser and open Facebook. The app is blue with a white “f” above it. If you are logged in, the new News Feed page will appear.

If you are not logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password to continue.

Tap the “What’s on your mind ?” field. (What are you thinking?). This field is at the top of the News Feed page.

Long press on the ” What’s on your mind?” field. A menu will pop up momentarily.

Click Paste . This option is in the pop-up menu. The link will be pasted into the “What’s on your mind?” field, and a preview of the content will appear immediately afterwards.

Copy the URL of the content. Click your browser’s address bar to highlight the URL, then press Ctrl + C (Windows) or ⌘ Command + C (Mac).

You can also right-click the highlighted URL and select Copy .
On Mac, you can click the Edit menu and then choose Copy from the drop-down menu.

Open Facebook. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ using a web browser. The News Feed page will appear if you are already logged in.

If you are not logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password in the top right of the page to continue.

Click on the “What’s on your mind?” field. at the top of the News Feed page.

Paste the link. Press Ctrl + V (Windows) or ⌘ Command + V (Mac), or you right-click in the “What’s on your mind?” field. and select Paste from the drop-down menu. The link will appear in the post’s data field, and a preview of the content will also appear below the link.

On Mac, you can click the Edit menu and then choose Paste from the drop-down menu.

Click Post in the lower-right corner of the Facebook post window. The link will be posted to your Facebook Timeline.

Advice

Posts that are less distracting (such as content without anchor text) are more likely to be visited.

Warning

You need to be careful when posting content that isn’t yours. It’s okay if you link to someone else’s video or post; but uploading a copy of that content without a link to the owner is not welcome.
You need to make sure that the added link doesn’t violate Facebook’s terms of use.
