How to Clean a Microwave

Food stains in the microwave are both annoying and smelly. They can also reduce the performance of the microwave oven. Luckily for us, there are easy ways to clean a microwave.

Use Vinegar

Fill a glass or bowl half full with water that is safe to use in the microwave. Add a tablespoon of white vinegar.

Put in the microwave.

Turn on the microwave for 5 minutes. You can choose a shorter time if it is a high power microwave; Remember to observe when you first try this method. The inner walls of the microwave will be steamed and the grime will come off.

Remove the cup of water from the microwave. Use a clean rag or paper towel to wipe the inside of the oven to remove any remaining dirt.

Now the stains will come off easily.

Take out the microwave’s glass dish and wash it like a dish. You can even put the microwave’s glass dish in the dishwasher if you have time.

Use lemon

Cut a lemon in half. Place both halves of a lemon in the microwave, cut side down on a glass dish in the oven with a tablespoon of water.

Microwave for about 1 minute or until the lemon slice is hot and steam is seen in the oven.

Use kitchen paper towels to clean the inside of the oven and wash the glass dishes.

Now that the lemon is hot and soft, it can be used as a great natural cleaner for the under-sink garbage disposal. Cut the halves of a lemon into small pieces and drain plenty of water.

Use dishwashing liquid

Fill a bowl with warm water that is safe to use in the microwave.

Add to the bowl of water the required amount of dishwashing liquid to clean the microwave.

Place the bowl of water in the microwave for 1 minute or until it starts to steam.

Remove the bowl of water from the oven. Use a damp sponge to wipe the inside of the oven.

The steam will loosen the stains, and you can easily clean the microwave.

You can also add a little baking soda to the bowl of water to get rid of the smell.

Use glass cleaner

Prepare a microwave cleaning solution. Mix 2 parts glass cleaner with 1 part warm water in a bowl. This diluent is sufficient to clean both the inside and outside of the microwave.

Clean the inside of the oven. Dip the sponge in the solution and wipe the inside of the oven. Remove the turntable and wipe the bottom of the microwave until all stains are removed. Clean the vents from the inside to remove any accumulated dirt.

Remember to unplug the power plug before cleaning the oven.
Soak the glass cleaner solution on the stains for about 5 minutes before scrubbing.
Be sure to wipe down the ceiling of the microwave, as food often splashes on it.

Use a clean rag to clean. After the inside of the microwave is clean, use a rag soaked in water and wipe it thoroughly. Remember to wipe off any traces of the glass cleaner solution, as it contains chemicals that you won’t want to get on your food the next time you use the microwave. Wipe again with a clean, dry rag.

If there are still some stubborn stains left, you can use a rag dipped in olive oil to clean it.
Be careful with cleaning products used in the microwave. For example, you should not use a pre-soaked scouring pad to clean the inside of the oven, as small particles that fall out can catch fire and explode the microwave.
Unsafe chemicals can also cause the microwave to catch on fire or pose other hazards. You should stick with glass cleaner or natural solutions like vinegar or lemon juice.

Let dry in the microwave. Allow the microwave to dry after wiping with a rag. Sniff inside the oven to see if it’s safe to use. If you still smell glass cleaner, take a rag dipped in clean water and wipe it again.

Wipe the outside of the microwave. Glass cleaner can be used to safely clean oven doors, handles, knobs and exterior surfaces. Thoroughly clean every spot after you’ve removed the stains.

To keep the microwave clean, you should cover the food while heating it.
Open the microwave door a few minutes after using it to dry and expel the air inside.

Warning
