This is an article that shows you how to enable the browser’s “incognito” window to avoid saving browsing data. Some incognito modes are built into both the desktop and mobile interfaces of virtually every modern browser. If your computer administrator has disabled your browser’s incognito mode, you may not be able to enable (or find an option to enable) incognito mode.

Click New incognito window at the top of the pop-up menu. This will open a new Chrome window in incognito mode.

  • If you don’t see this option, incognito mode may have been limited by the Chrome browser.
  • After you close the incognito tab, any browsing and download history for the private browsing period is deleted.

Tap New Incognito Tab . This will open a new incognito window so your browsing data is not saved in history. When you close the window, all browsing information and downloaded files are deleted from Chrome.

  • Incognito windows are darker than regular Chrome windows.
  • You can switch between a regular Chrome window and an incognito window by tapping the numbered square icon at the top of the screen and swiping right or left.

Click New Private Window . This will open a new private browsing window so that browsing and download data will not be saved in Firefox’s history.

Tap the + sign in the lower right corner of the screen to open a new tab in private browsing mode. As such, your search history will not be saved when using this tag.

  • You can switch to normal browsing mode by tapping the numbered square and tapping the mask icon to turn it off.
  • Closing Firefox will remove any private browsing tabs.

Click New InPrivate Window near the top of the menu. This is an operation that opens a new browsing window that helps you surf the web and download files without having Edge save data in history.

  • Closing the private window returns the browsing window to normal mode.

Click InPrivate Browsing near the top of the Safety menu that appears. This is to open a private browsing window of Internet Explorer so you can browse the web without having your computer save your browsing history or download files.

    Tap the + sign at the bottom of the screen. This is to open a new window in private mode so you can search for information without being saved in history by Safari.
