How to Trade Pokemon with John GBA Lite

Meet the prerequisites. To trade Pokémon between the John GBA emulator and MyBoy, the following conditions must be met:

• Installed both John GBA and MyBoy on Android
• There are two different supported Pokémon games (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green are supported video games)
• There is at least one file that records the gameplay on both John GBA and MyBoy
• Catch at least two Pokémon on both emulators

Install Astro File Manager. This file manager allows you to interact with hidden files, necessary for file transfers to save gameplay on John GBA. To install it, open the app store

Google Play, then follow these steps:

• Tap the search bar.
• Type astro file manager
• Tap File Browser by Astro (File Manager) (ASTRO File Manager) in the search results.
• Tap INSTALL (Settings)
• Tap ACCEPT (I Allow) when there is a notification.

Open Astro File Manager. Tap OPEN when you see it in the Google Play store, or tap the ASTRO file manager icon in the app tray on Android.

Move the John GBA save file to the “Download” folder. This is the step that both displays the file and makes it easier for you to find the file when you need to search through MyBoy.

• Scroll down and tap Primary (SD Card)
• Tap the Johnemulators folder.
• Tap the GBA folder.
• Tap the save folder.
• Touch and hold your hand on the file that saved the most recent play.
• Tap ⋮ , then tap Copy (Copy to..)
• Tap , then tap Home
• Tap Primary , then tap the Download folder.
• Tap PASTE at the bottom of the screen.

Open MyBoy. To do this, tap the MyBoy app icon in the app tray on Android.

File selection of the Pokémon game. Go to the location where the game files are stored on MyBoy and select the save file you want to use.

• Remember that this must be a different Pokémon game than the one you’re playing on John GBA.

Tap . This button is located in the upper left corner of the screen. A menu will pop up.

Tap Link local . This option is in the middle of the pop-up menu.

Tap ANOTHER GAME… . This button is located in the lower left corner of the message that appears.

Select file to save the playing process on John GBA. Go to the Download folder and tap the John GBA save file that you copied.

Switch back to the first game. Tap ☰ in the upper-left corner of the screen, tap Switch game at the top of the pop-up menu, then tap the name of the first game.

Go to Pokémon Center. There is a Pokémon Center in most major cities. Pokémon Center looks like a building with a red roof and a white Pokéball symbol in the front.

Talk to the woman on the far right. Go up the stairs and look for the woman standing at the far right of the room behind the partition, then do the following: ^[1]

• Tap A to start a conversation.
• Select TRADE CENTER when prompted, then touch A .
• Tap A when you’re asked if you want to save your gameplay.
• Select YES and touch A .

Switch to the second game. Tap ☰ in the upper-left corner of the screen, tap Switch game at the top of the pop-up menu, and then tap the name of the second game.

Enter the Pokémon Center and talk to the woman. You need to do this the same way you talk to the woman at the Pokémon Center in the other game.

Select Confirm when prompted. This step gets you into the Trade Center after a while.

• You may need to select Confirm twice.

Go to Trade Center. After the Trade Center door opens, walk to the front to enter the room.

Sit down at the computer on the left. Go to the computer on the left, then press A to sit on the computer. You should see “Communication Standby” appear, signaling that you can continue to the next step.

Control another game character sitting down. Switch to the first game, tap Confirm if prompted, go to Trade Center, then sit on another computer by walking up to it and tapping A .
