Take 1.5 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid in a bowl. You can use more to make more slimes but you also have to increase the amount of cornstarch equally. [1] X Research Source

  • Colored or scented dishwashing liquid can be used. For a traditional slime, try green dishwashing liquid.
  • You can use shampoo instead of dishwashing liquid. The thicker the shampoo, the better!
Stir in a little more food coloring or glitter if desired. You don’t have to do this but it will make the slime more interesting. If using clear dishwashing liquid, add 1 drop of food coloring. If you want the slime to sparkle, add a pinch of glitter. Use a spoon to stir the mixture.
Add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to the bowl. The cornstarch will cause the dishwashing liquid to thicken and become slime! [2] X Research Source

  • If you use a lot of dishwashing liquid, you will need to increase the cornstarch.
  • If in the South, you would say cornstarch instead of cornmeal.

Stir for about 10 minutes. When stirred, the dish soap and cornstarch will mix and form slime! [3] X Research Sources
Complete with hand stuffing of slime. Sometimes, dish soap will only soak up a little cornstarch. When that’s the case, you will have to put your hands in the stuffing until the ingredients are evenly mixed.

  • If the slime is too thin, add cornstarch. If the slime is too thick, add dishwashing liquid. [4] X Research Sources
Play slime. Let the slime melt on your hands. When you’re done playing, put the slime in an airtight container. Keep in mind that this slime doesn’t last long and it will dry out. [5] X Research Sources

Use yogurt and cornstarch

Take 1 tablespoon of yogurt in a bowl. Plain, unsweetened yogurt is best. You can use any type of yogurt, but it must be smooth, without any fruit. [6] X Research Sources

  • You can use more yogurt to make more slimes. Use 1 part yogurt with 3 parts cornstarch.
Add food coloring if desired. You don’t have to do this, but it can make the slime more eye-catching. Add 1 or 2 drops of food coloring, then stir with a spoon. [7] X Research Sources
Add 3 tablespoons cornstarch. The cornstarch will cause the yogurt to thicken and become a slime. [8] X Source of Research If you use a lot of yogurt, you will need to take 3 times more cornstarch than you used yogurt.

  • If you’re in the South, you’ll find cornstarch instead of cornstarch.
Stir ingredients. When the ingredients are no longer sticking to the sides of the bowl, you can use your hands to stuff them. Continue stirring and stuffing until the ingredients stick together and become slime. [9] X Research Source
Play slime. Press on the slime, stretch it out, or let the slime melt into your hand. Although both ingredients used are edible, you should not put them in your mouth! When you’re done playing, put the slime in an airtight container and store it in the fridge. Remember that slimes will spoil. When it smells bad or looks weird then you should throw it away!

Using psyllium husk (Psyllium Husk)

Mix a tablespoon of plantain bark with 1 cup of water in a bowl. Measure out 1 tablespoon of psyllium bark and put it in a bowl. Add 1 cup of water. [10] X Research Source

  • You can buy psyllium husks at the nutritional food counter in the supermarket. You can also buy it at a grocery store.

Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes. After that time, you should see the mixture thicken. Don’t worry if it’s still thin. [11] X Research Source
Add color if desired. You can leave the slime transparent or add some food coloring to make the slime more eye-catching. Gel food coloring works better, but you can use liquid color if you can’t find a gel. [12] X Research Source

  • Don’t add glitter. Because you will have to put it in the microwave.
Use a spoon to stir the mixture. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens. If you are adding food coloring, continue stirring until the color is evenly distributed and no streaks of color remain. [13] X Research Source

Put the slime in the microwave for about 5 minutes. Don’t go out. You should observe slimes. When the mixture starts to boil, turn off the microwave and let the slime deflate. When the slime has deflated, continue to heat with the microwave to complete the cooking process. [14] X Research Source

  • You may have to stop the microwave more than once.

Chill the slime in the refrigerator. When you take the bowl out of the microwave, you’ll have slime that looks slimy, gooey, and a little mushy. However, it will still be too hot to play, so it will have to be refrigerated to cool down. This will take a few minutes. [15] X Research Source
  • Play slime. This slime is thick, viscous and vibrates when shaken. You can add a few objects to it, like fake eyes. When you’re done playing slime, you should put it in an airtight container.
  • Advice

    • Make the “traditional” slime by adding green.
    • Experiment and make your own slime! Most gel products like hand cream, shampoo, hand soap, dish soap can be mixed with cornstarch to make slime!
    • Make slimes more interesting by adding glitter or food coloring.
    • Store the slime in an airtight container when you’re done playing.
    • Do not let slime get on clothes or carpets.
    • Slime will be dry. It cannot stay the same for long.
    • If borax powder is added to the water, stir until the powder dissolves.
