Cut the butter into small pieces and put it in a bowl. Butter cut into small pieces is easier to whip.

Beat the butter on low speed for 5 minutes until the butter is light and fluffy, at which point the butter will be lighter (nearly white) and twice as fluffy. You can use either a hand-held or a desktop mixer, any type with a whisk will do.<

Put half of the sugar in a bowl and mix well with the butter. You will add the rest of the sugar later. Add the sugar to the bowl and beat it little by little to avoid the problem of sugar splashing everywhere.

Add remaining ingredients and continue beating on low speed. Use only up to 1 tablespoon of milk or cream to make your buttercream firmer, more suitable for topping. However, if you prefer a softer, creamier texture, use 2 tablespoons of milk or whipped cream. If you still don’t know how many tablespoons of milk or whipped cream you should add, just add ½ teaspoon first to see the result. You can also replace the vanilla essence with 1 teaspoon of another flavor. For a lighter buttercream, use milk instead of whipped cream.

  • If you want to make the buttercream less sweet, add a pinch of salt.

You can add a little color. You can leave the cream white, or make it more colorful by adding a few drops of food coloring. Some of the flavors you use, such as cocoa powder, can already color the ice cream, so it’s possible that the coloring won’t be able to properly color.

Add the rest of the sugar and beat the cream on high speed. That way you will have a very light and fluffy buttercream. You need to whip the cream within two to three minutes.

  • If the cream is still too thick, you can add more whipped cream, milk or half the other half. Start with about a tablespoon, mix it up, then add more as needed. [4] X Research Sources
  • If the cream is loose, add more powdered sugar.

Remember: oils are thicker than essences, so you won’t need to use the same amount of oil. [9] X Research Source Here are some suggestions:

  • You can use a tablespoon of other essences like almond, lemon, mint or vanilla
  • A few drops of flavoring oil like butter, lemon, orange or raspberry

  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee powder mixed with 2 tablespoons water will make your buttercream taste coffee. You can also add a little cocoa powder to it for a mocha buttery taste.
  • Replace 50 grams of sugar with cocoa powder. Your buttercream will taste chocolatey.
