Sometimes you don’t need to keep all the information in a huge report, or it’s too large for you to copy to a USB flash drive, or there are only a few pages worth noting. If that’s the case, you can extract the pages out of the original document and create a new, lighter file.
Steps
Acrobat Professional on PC or Mac
- For example, if you want to separate the first page and the third page, drag the picture of the third page forward until a blue bar appears above the thumbnail of the second page. the new position of the 3rd page when you drop the photo.
- Drop the pictures in a position so that the pages appear sequentially. The page you dragged is now the second page of the document.
- The Extract Pages dialog box will appear.
- Select “Extract Pages As Separate Files” to create a new file for each page you want to split. Do not select the above option if you want to merge the pages into one file.
Using Google Chrome
Preview on Macintosh
SmallPDF Online Tool (for all platforms)
CutePDF Writer
PDFsam
Advice
- If the document is already secured and does not allow page splitting, you will not be able to follow the above methods. All you have to do is print the document out.
Warning
- The Acrobat application (both Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Pro) does not allow printing of documents
PDF. Acrobat Pro only supports splitting, and Acrobat Reader does not support both page splitting and printing.
