Choose the type of wax you want to use to make the candles. There are many types of wax to choose from. Pour water into a large or medium saucepan. It should be noted to choose a pot that is just large enough to fit a smaller pot/cup; you will use a small pot/cup to melt the wax in a makeshift water bath.

Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature of the wax. You can buy a candy or candle thermometer at a kitchen or craft store. If you don’t have a candy thermometer, you can also use a meat thermometer. Remember that wax is difficult to wash off.

Pour Wax Into the Mold

Place the wick in the center of the candle mold. You can use old cans, glass jars, tea cups, any kind of mold that can withstand heat. Metal cans are usually the safest option, but you can use any mold you like, as long as you know your container can withstand the heat. Place them on a flat surface in a protected place (like a cake tray or cutting board). The wick should be placed in the center of the mold with the wick 5 cm longer than the candle. Cool the wax. The best way to cool the wax is to let it sit for 24 hours if possible. For as long as possible.
