How to make soap from fat

Preliminary fat

• You boil each type of fatty meat in a pan on low heat to melt the fat, and at the same time remove the fat that has turned yellow-brown, avoiding the smell of burning on the soap after completion.

• Use a mesh cloth or sieve to filter the grease. You continue to add water and 1 teaspoon of salt to the filtered fat, bring this mixture to boil for 15 minutes on low heat.

• After turning off the stove, add a glass of cold water to the fat mixture, stir well and refrigerate overnight. Remove surface grease to use as soap.

Prepare soap ingots

• With the soap ingot, you cut it into small pieces and then boil it in a water bath until the workpiece is liquid.

• You reduce the heat to low, continue to stir the soap and add 1 teaspoon of salt and ½ part of the separated fat into the workpiece, gently stir until the grease dissolves into the workpiece to avoid foaming on the surface.

Mold preparation

• With the pouring mold, there are two ways for you to choose, one is to use a paper mold (good oil absorption) to line the entire mold, the other is to use a brush to spread a thin layer of oil on the surface of the mold. This will make it easier for you to separate the soap from the mold after it has solidified.

Fragrance for soap

• After the soap base is completely dissolved, let the soap mixture cool for 5-10 minutes, then slowly add the essential oils into the mixture.

• If you use essential oils of orange, lemon, rosemary… you should put in 20-30 drops, with menthol, you should only add 10 drops.

Casting

• Slowly pour the soap mixture into the prepared pouring mold and place the soap mold in a cool place for 24 hours, you can also put the soap mold in the refrigerator if you want to shorten the time.

Finished product

Soaps made from tallow are not really popular, but they have great cleansing and moisturizing properties. However, they only have a maximum shelf life of one year.
