Making a volcano is an exemplary science experiment, perfect for homeschooling or a school project or simply a rainy day activity for kids. Even adults find it fun to use as a fun activity in the party. This article presents several different ways to make volcanoes – just choose the most fun way or one that you have the ingredients listed in “Things you need” to make.

Note: Only pour lava ingredients where you don’t mind getting dirty. It’s best to leave the erupting volcano outdoors if you don’t want to have to clean up a lot!

Place a vase in the middle. You can use carbonated water cans, glass jars, plastic bottles to make the center of the volcano. This is where you use to store lava!

Use clay to make the rest of the volcano. Squeeze the clay from the bottom of the jar to the top of the jar. Try to make the clay look rough instead of flat because a real volcano doesn’t look like a complete funnel!

Add hydrogen peroxide. Buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide at the cosmetics store. You will need a 6% solution (usually labeled “volume – 20”). Pour half a cup of hydrogen peroxide into a volcanic flask.

  • Be careful when using hydrogen peroxide. You will be injured if you come into contact with hydrogen peroxide or get it in your eyes. Let adults handle hydrogen peroxide only.

Performed outdoors. This type of volcano will create a big explosion so you need to do it outdoors with a large open space. Only adults are allowed to make this type of volcano, but kids will enjoy watching it too!

Find a few helpers. This test requires at least two people, three people the better. Test takers must cover all areas of the body and not wear clothing that is too loose.

  • This test requires liquid nitrogen, which is not pleasant to the skin. Be careful you.
  • In addition, you should wear safety glasses. If you are lucky enough to be chosen as the detonator, wear goggles .

Get a good quality plastic trash can. Do not use small bins. Choose the type of large, hard bin that the cleaning staff often use. Poor quality bins will break and ruin the test, so choosing a good one is very important. The plastic should be thick and the seams should be stiff. Place the trash can on a concrete, stone, or brick surface.

Pour water into the bucket. Pour an amount of water that makes up about 80% of the barrel. You can add color to the water if you want. Using Kop Aid pigment will be more effective.

  • You can also add a few ping pong balls to the bucket if you want the effect of rolling rocks and volcanic debris. In this case you need to reduce a little water (about 70-75%).

Enjoy the explosion. Make sure everyone stands at least 9m away. Stand as far as possible. The explosion will be very loud. This explosion simulated a Plinian eruption, a special type of volcanic eruption often associated with ancient Saint Helens or Vesuvius. Water shot up into the air and fell as rain.

    • Wait at least 2 minutes before assuming the test failed. You should wear protective gear and carefully approach for inspection. If the explosion does not occur, the bottle cap may not be properly closed. [1] X Research Source
  • Advice

    • It’s best to be very careful when pouring ingredients to avoid an explosion that makes everything messy.
    • Combine soda and mints to increase the effect of the explosion.
    • You should do it outdoors because the process will be very dirty.
    • Remember to tie the elastic band tightly.
    • You need to stand back so that the explosion does not affect you.
    • The exact amount of ingredients should be taken so as not to spoil the whole process.
    • Children need adult guidance while performing.
    • Place the volcano on newspaper or a table to prevent contamination.
    • For a big bang, you can add more vinegar and baking soda to the bottle.
    • Add some glitter for a sparkly look.
    • Place the erupting volcano on a hard countertop or cake stand for easy cleanup.
    • Do not add too much water because the volcano will not explode as expected.

    Warning

    • This is a messy experiment! It’s best to do it outdoors or in a kitchen or bathroom with a tiled floor. If you use food coloring, you may end up staining the floor and furniture.
    • Remember to wear gloves and goggles.
