Wait for slimes to spawn. If there are no slime creatures in the standard day and night cycle, find a new burrow.

Advice

Don’t waste time finding slimes on the night of the new moon as they won’t spawn at this time.
When digging slime chunks, you should make each side two blocks high. This way, slimes can’t move and you can kill them more easily.
Try using TNT armor on slimes that are larger than average.
You can easily find slimes in the flat world even during the daytime.
