Open the folder you want to search. To search for files in a certain folder by content, you need to open that folder first.

Type change search options for files and fpders into Start. The search bar displays at the bottom of the Start window. This will find the option you need to change so that you can search files on your computer by content.

Check the box “Always search file names and contents”. This is the option in the “When searching non-indexed locations” section of the window.

  • Advice

    • After updating the listing options, you will have to wait a while before the search results show up as expected, because Windows has to rearrange the listing according to the contents of the new file. Restarting the computer will speed up the process.
    • You may also need to add another folder to the list of locations listed from the Indexing Options window.
