Draw a 5-pointed star

Draw an inverted “V”. Starting at the bottom, left corner, draw a diagonal line upwards, then down to the bottom, right corner of the drawing. Do not lift the pencil from the paper until you have completed the star.

Draw a “” towards the top left corner, cutting the first line at 1/3 from the bottom without lifting the pen from the paper.

Draw a horizontal line (“-“) that cuts an inverted “V” at the top 1/3 of the way, ending on the right side of the manuscript. Again, we still don’t lift the pen from the paper.

Draw an angled line going back down to the starting point. The line “/” will connect to the lower left corner of the drawing.

Lift the pen off the paper. Your star is done.

Erase unnecessary strokes if you don’t want them to appear inside the star.

Draw a six-pointed star

Use a compass to draw a large circle.

Place the pencil in the pen holder of the compass. Then, place the pointed end on the center of the paper.
Hold the tip in place, while rotating the compass. The pencil will draw a perfect circle around the center.

Use a pencil to make a point above the circle. Then move the tip of the compass to that position. Do not change the compass radius while moving.

Rotate the compass to mark where the pencil tip intersects the left side of the circle. Repeat this with the right side.

Maintain the same radius and move the tip of the compass to one of the locations just marked. Rotate to further mark on the edge of the circle.

Continue moving the compass to the new marker position and do the same until you have a total of 6 evenly spaced markers. Set the compass aside.

Use the ruler to draw a triangle, starting at the top marker of the circle’s edge.

Place the pencil at the top marker. Skip the first marker on the left and join the second marker on the left of the circle.
Continuing to ignore the bottom marker, draw a line from the second marker to the right.
Finish by connecting the right marker to the top marker. You will create a triangle.

Draw a second triangle from the bottom marker of the circle.

Place the pencil at the bottom marker. Draw a line connecting to the second marker.
Draw a line to the right, ignoring the top marker.
Complete the second triangle by adding a line that connects back to the bottom marker of the circle.

Delete the circle. Your 6-pointed star is done.

Draw a 7-pointed star (style 1)

Follow as the first step of how to draw a 5-pointed star. This pattern is similar to the 5-pointed star.

Instead of drawing horizontally to the right, draw a little lower to leave room for another wing.

Draw horizontally to the left.

Return to the empty side in step 2.

Connect back to the starting point to complete the 7-pointed star.

Draw a 7-pointed star (style 2)

Draw an incomplete triangle. Leave a gap between the start and end points as shown.

Draw a line from the end point to any position between the first point and the second point.

Continue as previous step. Continue drawing to any position above, between the second and third points, then between the third and fourth points.

Connect to the starting position.

Practice a lot.
To help your child remember how to draw a 5-pointed star (and also how to learn English), you can teach him the rhyme of Eric Carle: “Down, over, left and right, draw a star, oh so bright.” Translation: “Down, up, left, right, baby draw stars, twinkling overhead”.
When drawing a 7-pointed star type 1, it is easy to mistake it for a 5-pointed star. Practice more to avoid confusion.
