Open the Premiere project. You can open an Adobe Premiere project by navigating to the file while using File Explorer on Windows, or Finder on Mac and then double-clicking it.

Drag the Playhead to the position where you want to insert the text. The playhead is the vertical line that appears on the timeline in the panel below the screen.   • Choose a style (eg bold, italic) in the second drop-down menu. You can also click the buttons at the bottom of the Text menu to apply the style.
  • Use the slider to adjust the font size.
  • Click the buttons with skewed lines to align the text left, center, or right.

Use the Appearance menu to change the color of the text. The Appearance menu is also located within the Essential Graphics and Effects Contrp menus. There are three ways for you to change the color of the text. Click the tick box next to each option to apply a color style. Then, click the color box next to each option to get a color from the color picker. You can also click the Eye-dropper color picker to select a color from the video playback in the Program Preview window. There are three color options as follows:

  • The Fill color option changes the color of the letter.
  • The Stroke option creates a border around the letter. You can type the number on the right to adjust the thickness of the border.
  • The Shadow color option creates a shadow effect below the text. Use the slider below this option to adjust the size, transparency, and angle of the shadow.
Use the Align and Transform menu to adjust the position of the text. The Align and Transform menu has many tools to help you adjust the position of your text. This menu is available in both the Essential Graphics and Effects Contrp windows. Use the tools below to adjust the position of the text.

  • The Position tool allows you to adjust the position of the text along the vertical and horizontal axes.
  • The Rotation tool allows you to rotate text.
  • Click two or more objects and click the alignment buttons to align the corresponding object.
  • The Opacity tool will adjust the transparency of the text.
Animate text. The Effects Contrp window allows you to animate text. Drag the Playhead to where you want the animation to start. Click the stopwatch next to the transform tool in the Effects Contrp window. Move the Playhead to where you want the animation to end and apply the adjustment to the text. Adobe Premiere will slowly apply a frame-by-frame transformation between the two keyframes. You can apply multiple transformations in one movie clip. Save the text as Master Style. If you like the look of the current text, you can save it as a Master Style. This allows you to apply the same style to other lines of text. Follow the steps below to save the Master Style. The Master Style option is located in the Essential Graphics window.

  • Click to select text in the Program Preview window or the Essential Graphics window.
  • Select Create Master Text Style from the drop-down menu under “Master Styles”.
  • Type a name for the Master Style.
  • Click OK .
Apply Master Style. After saving the Master Style, you can apply it to other text graphics by following the steps below.

  • Create a line of text with the Text tool.
  • Click to select text image.
  • Select the Master Style to apply in the drop-down menu under “Master styles”.
Adjust the length of time the text appears. When you insert text in Adobe Premiere, it appears as an image in the timeline. To adjust how long the text stays on screen in the video, click to the right of the graphic file in the timeline and drag it left or right.

Create a new title. The title serves as an overlay that appears at the top of the video clip in Adobe Premiere. You must create a title to insert text in older versions of Adobe Premiere, and the latest version will support titles. Follow the steps below to create a new title.

Click the text tool. The text tool is an icon that looks like the letter T. You can find it in the toolbar on the side of the title editing window.
Click or drop a cell in the preview window. The preview window in the title editor will show the current frame that Playhead is pointing at in the timeline at the bottom of the screen. Click to add a line of text, or drag to create a box that limits the text’s border.

Click and drag the number next to “Font Size”. This step helps you to adjust the size of the text. You can adjust the font size in the “Title Properties” sidebar menu, or in the text editing tool at the top of the title editing window.
Click the buttons with the skewed lines to align the text. You can align text left, center, or right.
Select text color in Title Properties. It’s the box next to the word “Cpor” below “Fill” in the sidebar to choose the text color. Use the color picker to choose a color for the text. You can also click the dropper icon to choose a color from the preview in the title editor.

  • You can use the drop-down menu to choose another fill style, such as a Gradient style, by using the drop-down menu below “Fill”. You will see more colored cells to choose from, with the aim of gradually changing from one color to another.
  • To add a border around the text, click Add next to “Inner Stroke” or “Outer Stroke”. Click the colored box next to “Cpor” to choose a color for the border. You can also adjust the size of the border by clicking and dragging the number next to “Size”.

Click the title style. To quickly select a style, click one of the heading styles at the bottom of the title editing window. Each square at the bottom has a sample of the text style. Click the style you want to select.
Click the “X” button to exit the title editor. The “X” button is in the upper left corner for Mac, and in the upper right corner for Windows. This will help you exit the title editor.
