I’ll guess the title tell the most… enjoy

This looks really useful, especially later on in skyblock. Can you do a similiar tutorial for a smooth stone generator like this?

no yours uses sponge how is that cheap you cant even get that in the gamehis is much better it is automatic yours isent
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. Look, mine is even cheaper! Uses no pistons/redstone!
But srsly, a cobblestone generator is nothing worth making a fuss about, since everyone(and yes, I mean EVERYONE) knows how to make one. Pushing the cobble out of the “generation zone” is just a little gimmick.
Prove me wrong and make a cobblestone generator where you don’t need at least a wooden pickaxe to break the generated block. Go ahead, try it.
As for the automation: as long as the blocks don’t get destroyed immediately after their creation(WITHOUT me mining the block of course) it’s not automated, simple as that.
This “giant tower of cobblestone” amuses me. I bet I can create a higher tower just by block jumping.
You might ask why I posted that picture in the first place, that’s a legitimate question to ask. The answer is quite simple: to proof the OP wrong that his design is the cheapest and fastest cobblestone generator. It’s not even the smallest since his design takes up a ton of usable space.
Uh, I don’t really have anything under the cobble block, there’s just another yellow clay block(You know, as cheap as possible). But yeah, this is as cheap as you can go. It can be “improved” by replacing the block behind the one you mine with obsidian. This is so you don’t mine that one on accident while AFKing.
Quote from XDGrangerDXtheres about a 20% chance that the cobble dropps into the lava, thus its efficency cant be better than 80%.

But the hoppers are once again more expensive, even more expensive than the piston. xD
Oh well…
Neat idea, Hardmuscle, but I believe this will do the same thing with even less resources than yours, still maintaining the 100% rate.Although this design needs 1 iron more than OPs, you still don’t need any redstone at a 100% gathering rate.

5 pistons? there is only 1 i can see were your coming from because its a sticky piston i have and i dear hes is not being updated like a bud switch it is like a clock witch is cool but if you made it like a bud you would be able to use a normal piston so 3 reperters is cheap say 12 redstone is cheap and then a piston makes it much cheaper
Time for a Resource Breakdown!
My design:
1 Furnace // 8 Cobblestone
1 Workbench // 1 Log or 4 Wooden Planks
1 Wooden Pickaxe // 2 Sticks and 3 Planks
1 Stone Pickaxe // 2 Sticks and 3 Pieces of Cobblestone
1 Bucket // Equal to 3 pieces of Iron, need 2 Planks to smelt
8 Cobblestone // For the frame of the generator
Total:
3 Logs
19 Pieces of Cobblestone
3 Iron Ore
Your design:
1 Sticky Piston // Consists of 1 piece of Redstone Dust, 3 Planks, 1 Slime Ball, 1 Piece of Iron and 4 pieces of Cobblestone
6 Redstone Dust
3 Redstone Repeaters // A total of 18 Smooth Stone, 9 Redstone Dust and 6 Sticks
1 Bucket // I only count the buckets once since you can use them more than once, consists of 3 Iron
1 Lever // 1 Cobblestone and 1 Stick
1 Wooden Pickaxe // 2 Sticks and 3 Planks
1 Stone Pickaxe // 2 Sticks and 3 Cobblestone
1 Iron Pickaxe // 2 Sticks and 3 Iron
1 Glass // Made out of 1 Sand
1 Furnace // 8 Cobblestone
1 Workbench // 1 Log or 4 Planks
Total:
16 Redstone Dust
34 Cobblestone
1 Slime Ball
7 Iron Ore // To smelt this, we use a piece of charcoal made from our wooden pickaxe and the leftover stick
1 Sand // Tbh, this can be anything that can be pushed by pistons, thus I won’t calculate smelting costs.
5 Logs // For the 7 sticks and 10 Planks necessary and the piece of charcoal
Now talk about cheap. I didn’t even include the piece of glass you had to smelt. And no, I am not ignorant since the only I thing I try to prove is that your design is not cheap. Not at all. Furthermore, you haven’t said anything about it being automated, you only claimed that yours is the, and I quote, “Fastest, cheapest and best cobblestone generator!”. This is a plain lie. It is not horribly faster(the piston pushing up may be a faster way to get the cobblestone out of the generation zone, but it still is slower in terms of resource gathering because you have to mine it by hand, possibly preventing the piston from pushing the cobble up). For example, in the time you go searching for the Redstone, I can already farm cobble. Secondly, it’s nowhere close to being cheap. You have to hunt for slimes. Mine down to redstone level. Make an Iron Pick. All these things cost you not only time, but more important resources. Since you can’t prove your design to be better at any of the relevant points, you can’t call it “best cobblestone generator”. Got it?
I do really hope that you can see why your design won’t be chosen over the regular one, especially in maps like Skyblock or similar. It just isn’t worth the additional resources.

About that glass “that could be anything”, wrong! The reason it’s a glass there, is because when the redstone goes trough to activate the piston, the glass will not get redstone power trough!
As said again, it’s cheap in the form of being automatic! (as far as it goes, without mods)
And this looks even FAR more cooler than your designe!
For those who likes and understand redstone, would MUCH rather have this in SkyBlock than yours!
Yeah I see, your design is very clever in the begining, but as it goes further, people want to upgrade stuff….
And if you wait some days, I will put out a video, where this is the designe, and is ALOT better!

Ok YouTube was trolling me earlier, I found the videos I was looking for:
Top these lmao!

Multiple output points cause you to lose the efficiency of a piston driven one since you are constantly moving to break the cobble (mouse to turn or wasd to get to the next point). They are undeniably resource light though.
In the end this is a thread about red stone contraptions though and none of these designs utilize red stone instantly making them irrelevant to the topic.

If you stand in the empty space in the middle or sides of the “no redstone” versions, they both go to your inventory and you cannot mine them both at the same time. Which is just as fast as any other huge redstone monster, except that it uses only 1 water and 1 lava. (next to nothing in resources lol)
As for the going off topic bit, that you are trying to pull….
This topic is technically and politically incorrect… starting with the Title..
It’s not the fastest, it’s not the cheapest and it certainly is not the best…
I think I more than proved that, for all 3 factors involved lol .. nice try!

In the context of requiring red stone, I agree with you that he meets none of the claimed attributes (fast, cheap, best) but you, in the context of requiring red stone, did not prove that.
Additionally standing in the middle or sides of your generators won’t typically auto collect as you will be pushed by the current and have to constantly keep your place, or stand above the broken blocks in which case you won’t collect.
The true “cheapest, fastest, best” would be maxedout’s design modified to have a clock… and not using sponges.
